I decided to take another picture of all the sets of different “official” Games Workshop Block dice that I have. It’s more that I’m simply a Blood Bowl collector. It’s not really that I’m a dice collector, because I’m not. I don’t know about you, but I plan on buying them all. The word is that all teams will get their own dice set as long as we keep buying them. Here is a nice group shot of all the team specific Block dice. Here is a closeup of the Goblin Team dice set. There are a marbled blue with silver pips. Here is a closeup of the Reikland Reavers dice set. Here is a closeup of the Gouged Eye dice set. Here are all my new dice alongside the previous two sets that were released. All the dice sets come with three Block dice, two D6’s. On to the dice! There isn’t really a whole lot to say about dice, so this will be a relatively short post. That isn’t enough to make me buy them again, but if you’re a major dice collector, you might want to be aware of the differences. The original dice set had the Blood Bowl logo on the six face of the standard D6’s and the new set has swapped out the Blood Bowl logo for a Skaven logo. It’s also worth noting that the new Skavenblight Scramblers dice set is slightly different than the original dice set. It would seem that this time, Games Workshop has learned from their mistakes and ordered in sufficient quantities, because it’s now a week after the pre-orders started and all the new dice sets are still in stock. Now, for those of you that have been living under a rock, the previous two sets of team specific dice that Games Workshop released were IMMEDIATELY sold out, and have stayed that way for months. Then last Saturday, pre-orders went up on the Games Workshop site for for new sets of dice for the Reikland Reavers, the Gouged Eye, the Skavenblight Scramblers, and the oddly generic, “Goblin Team.” Having been lucky enough to get one of the two sets allotted to my FLGS at launch, I skipped the Skavenblight Scramblers dice, but I did order one set of each of the new dice. Well, six days later, and one day before their official release, my new dice showed up in my mailbox. You can also expand on this with the probabilities of 2 or 3 dice, counter-skills (such as tackle against dodge) or your desired-out come (for example if you want to just sack the ball a player with wrestle and strip ball will succeed in 5 out of the 6 block dice results).Recently a rumor surfaced that new sets of Blood Bowl dice were on the way, and other Blood Bowl items that had been long out of stock were making a return. Having both will mean only 1 result of the 6 will lead to a knockdown. Them having one of block or dodge will take that down to 2. On a single standard block dice roll the opposing player will go down in 3 of 6 dice results. On another note you can also limit your risk with skills (there's a reason why block and dodge are two of the highest thought of skills in general). For this I would recommend planning for various scenarios, allowing chains to function to get multiple blocks in should the opposing player not be taken care of and not to go rerolling for a knockdown when a push is alright. A push into the right position can work just as well as a knockdown. That being said it doesn't tell the whole story. Helps to equate the two dice types when you have two teams that rely on opposing sets. Defender down and Attaker down being your best/worst result (6/1) Def, stumbles and both down being the the 5 and 2 and pushes take the 3 and 4. In my mind you can also include the block dice as a D6 for analysis purposes.
